Heather McMillen
Heather McMillen sprung from the swamps of Mississippi to the hills of Los Angeles, weaving through the jungles of Cuba and the white beaches of Florida along the way. She was born with her eyes wide open, taking mental snapshots of the world around her, collecting images from day one. She’s mostly interested in other humans, and spends a lot of time wondering at their secrets. She views painting as a way of getting inside her subjects, and works on each piece with the intention of searching out the part of them that is psychologically unique. Uninterested in the norms of social interaction and posturing, she prefers to quietly observe, searching out unusual “others”. She doesn’t want to know your name. She wants to know what you’re made of.
